College
We assemble in the streets of heavily Tibetan area overlooking Dege, then back down, we take the wrong alignment of monasteries. The first meeting is the monastic college. He is very tall and from the entry, is the shock: a cloister! A grassy courtyard surrounded by a gallery on two floors on which give the cells of young monks. They are numerous and all occupied. The silence is only apparent, if we listen we hear the hum from a litany of all these boxes.
We go on the terrace with new rows of boxes. Several monks have opened their windows and trying to communicate with us. They agree to be photographed. We do come across someone in the gallery but a terrace, we see two monks who spend adults in all rooms distributing a small wad of bills to each of the young monks. Pocket money?
Monastery Sakyapa
down towards the center, we follow three temples closed, perhaps abandoned. Their walls are painted in three colors in vertical stripes : Red, white and gray. These are the colors of the Sakya sect Lamaist. The same colors as in the monastery of Manigango. The sect was founded in the thirteenth century it is known as a "cult colored" or "striped sect. Tsang region of central Tibet is known for its greyish earth, is where does the name Sakya "gray earth." Unlike other sects, the followers of Sakya can marry.
We admire the monastery then Lhundrupteng (Derge Gonchen). Devastated during the Cultural Revolution, it was rebuilt in 1987. The assembly hall is very large, I think at 15 m height pillars lacquered in red who support the hall.
We defer to tomorrow's visit of the famous printing and we stroll to town, admiring the dresses of young women.
