To the west is nothing new? Yes!

Fort Apollonia and the new museum Nzema

The country Nzima called Apollonian in Côte d'Ivoire was renamed Apollonia. Beyin Beach was one of the first points of Portuguese arrived in Ghana who called Apollonia, named after the holy day of discovery. This fort was built by the English between 1768 and 1773. Then fell into disuse. It has a distinctive architecture, was built in stone.

After restoration


Fort Apollonia renovated by an Italian NGO COSPE and Ghanaian partners, intends to be both a museum and a resource center on the cultivation of Nzema.


It offers a panorama cultural heritage and also a center of education, place of art and craft production. He is scheduled to accept a temporary exhibition venue and is shows.
This museum is dedicated to Kwame Nkrumah, first President of Ghana and a native of this region.

During the visit, we were greeted by a guide to preventing and all business.

A small museum in a very well done very tastefully renovated, with sets original work consisting of anthropological research, where one is welcomed. It's worth the few miles swallowed tracks to get there!
